January 15th, 1996 showed the Mermen embarking on a three-month long tour around the U.S., hitting small and large clubs alike, promoting their latest release at the time, A Glorious Lethal Euphoria, and releasing their EP Songs Of The Cows midway through. In a first for the band, Allen Whitman towed along a donated Macintosh Powerbook, downgraded to using an AOL account, and became the first band to send in regular reports from the road to Addicted To Noise for its daily news section, Music News Of The World. Dubbed Road Ration by Leslie Jackson, he and I spent some time upon their return scanning in photos and adding captions to them in order to repackage and present these reports to the Mermen fans out there on the 'net who wonder what it's all like. So, while the Mermen continue to travel on to new tours in new and exciting places, meet new and interesting people (but not kill them), we hope you enjoy this presentation of Road Ration - Winter '96 Slog Across America...
